A Retained Intra-Orbital Foreign Body Secondary to an Industrial Accident: A Case Report
Main Article Content
Abstract
The term intra-orbital foreign body refers to an object that lies within the orbit but outside the globe. Lodgement of such foreign bodies usually occurs after a high velocity injury such as gunshots or industrial accidents. We present a case of a retained intra-orbital foreign body secondary to an industrial accident (precisely a step-down electric transformer explosion) in a 33 year-old Nigerian male. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital and probably in Nigeria.
